Acknowledging National Seniors Day

Every year on October 1, Canadians pay tribute to all seniors who have helped shape our country and who continue to enrich our lives every day.

Older adults have made-and continue to make-a profound contribution to Canada: At home, in communities and as part of the workforce. They represent a large and growing proportion of our population.

Did you know?

The senior population in the Central West region is expected to grow by an astonishing 59% by 2041—that’s approximately 135,000 residents, making it one of the fastest-growing senior populations in the province!

As this vital part of our community continues to grow, we remain committed to supporting seniors through accessible healthcare, community programs, and resources designed to promote health, independence, and well-being.

Programs like the CW OHT CARE Program are vital to providing support for older adults to remain in their home as they require additional medical care and encouraging people to live independently.

This key demographic is also why we are proud to have many partner organizations committed to working together to provide comprehensive, compassionate care and support tailored to the unique needs of our senior population, including CANES Community Care, ESS Support Services, Peel Senior Link, Sienna Senior Living and more.

Let’s take this day to recognize the strength, wisdom, and resilience of our seniors—and work together to ensure they thrive now and into the future.
