The Central West Ontario Health Team (CW OHT) has welcomed the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) as its latest partner, in a move that seeks to enhance the region’s capacity to respond to community needs and reduce system pressures through proactive, coordinated care.
CRC will collaborate with the CW OHT on system-level solutions to improve navigation, strengthen prevention efforts, and ensure individuals and families can access vital services and resources before situations escalate into crises.
This partnership aligns with both organizations’ commitment to improving population health and building a more resilient, connected support system.
“We’re excited to join the CW OHT in this collective effort to strengthen community-based care in the region,” said Sogol Zand, Project Manager, Canadian Red Cross. “CRC brings national experience in humanitarian work, and we deeply value the opportunity to work alongside local partners whose insights and relationships are essential to meeting the unique needs of each community.”
As an organization, CRC brings diverse expertise across several areas, including community health and wellbeing—such as food security, community wellness, support for care centres and hospitals, and volunteer mobilization—as well as emergency management.
“This collaboration brings together deep local knowledge and national humanitarian expertise,” said Rishika Thakur Malhi, Executive Lead, CW OHT. “Together, the CW OHT and CRC aim to address root causes of health and social challenges while expanding access to responsive, community-based care.”
The addition of CRC strengthens CW OHT’s growing network of health, social service, academic, and community partners—united in their goal to improve care experiences, reduce inequities, and build a healthier future for all.
